Interview with Nan snow

As we have seen many of the students have done really well during their internship and some of them completely have suitable jobs after, now, we have met with one of alumni called Nan Snow who recommend sharing her experience to us.
Nan Snow is an ethnicity of Shan from Burma who completely graduated from Wide Horizons (WH) in year 2009. Before that, she worked with Back Pack Health Worker Team (BPHWT) as a staff for some part of works, such as translation, interpretation and data entry. In June 2008, she attended WH program because, one of her friends explained her that WH program focus on English, Computer and Community Development skills. Nan Snow said, “I really interested to work with the organization but if I said obviously, before I attended WH, I did not understand the project designs and management skills. And I really didn’t know the different between Proposal and Report writing. I felt like both were the same for me.”
After WH, she undertook her internship with BPHWT. This organization works for every ethnic group inside Burma to improve and uphold health care services that main office takes place in Mae Sot. It has thirty-two teams, over 1,500 workers and ninety eight different work places. She was expressing her experiences that “all the skills that I learnt from the school, as we mention above were great for me. It is very valuable and helpful in my job.” She added, “as usual as BPHWT had three years leading committee election, I was integrated in 2010 election among of thirteen’s committee. Then, I have got appointment to work as a project deputy manager.Again in 2013 election, I never thought that I would receive the position again, but I did! I appreciate my work, it teaches me to go ahead for my community.”
According to her organization, she explained, “the organization has conducted a survey on situation inside Burma and have been discussing to repatriate to Burma, to work closely and effectively in the future but, we are not definitely judges on democracy system to return and get registration.”Also, hopefully Wide Horizons program will be able to maintain here in Mae Sot because, several of migrants and refugees are along the border line, and they are not totally returns right now. Moreover, here is no more further education program or university to allow migrants, or refugees to stick together. And also, only WH program has been focused on community development so, it is better to take a moment in time till the situation is reasonable to assume. For all the readers she added, “I would like to encourage every one especially youth to try hard in their study. The organizations need lots of qualify people to develop the community. We can learn not only in class, there are plenty of ways to improve our self even thought we have job. The only one thing is depending on how much we are motivating and enthusing to promote ourselves.”
At last, we would like to say thank you so much to Nan Snow that give us, WH time for interviewing and share your experiences to publish our newsletter volume 2. You have been doing many things professionally; we are hopefully you and BPHWT be able to go forward and successful prospects. At the same time, thank you all to the readers who appreciate us and read our news. We all admire your appreciation and warmly welcome to support our future Wide Horizons students.
